Prepare for your hunt

A little prep goes a long way. Use this checklist in the days before your trip so you show up ready, legal, and on time.

The checklist

1. •Licenses — if the listing requires one, checkout showed a notice: "This hunt requires a state hunting license" with a Buy one online → link. Buy it before trip day.
2. •Gear — pack for the species and terrain, and confirm your weapon type is allowed under the listing's rules in Things to know (tap View listing from your booking to re-read them).
3. •Weather — check the forecast for the property's region the week of. Rural microclimates can differ from the nearest town, so plan for colder and wetter than the forecast shows.
4. •Travel — plan your route and timing. Many properties are remote with the last miles on dirt roads; a high-clearance or 4WD vehicle may be needed.
5. •Payment schedule — open your booking in My bookings and check the receipt: if your payment was split, the balance auto-charges 30 days before the trip.
6. •Message the host — confirm arrival details in the Message the host thread on your booking page.

What to ask your host in messages

1. •Where exactly do I meet you or enter the property?
2. •What are the parking arrangements, and how far is parking from the hunting grounds?
3. •Are there any off-limits zones, stands, or blinds I should know about?
4. •What's the cell service like on the property, and is there a contact number for the day of?
5. •Is there anything specific to this season or this property I should prep for?
