When do I get paid as a host?
Payouts run through Stripe Connect — you're paid from the guest's charge when you approve, with balances charging 30 days before the trip.
Host payouts are handled by Stripe Connect. Once you've connected your bank account (about five minutes, on Stripe's secure page — we never see your bank details; see Set up payouts with Stripe), each payment from a guest routes to your Stripe account and on to your bank.
When money moves
- Approve a request and the guest's saved card is charged immediately — your listing's deposit setting (No deposit, 25% up front, or 50% up front) decides whether that's the deposit or the full amount.
- Wait for the balance on split trips — it auto-charges the guest 30 days before the hunt, no action needed from you. (The Earnings page puts it plainly: "Deposits land when you approve a request. Balances charge 30 days before the trip.")
- See your share of each charge on the Earnings page — the Paid section lists every charge with a green "+$X".
Your payout is the guest's total minus the BirdDog service fee — the request's money breakdown shows both lines (Service fee and Your payout) before you approve. The exact timing of Stripe's deposit to your bank is managed by Stripe; your Stripe dashboard shows each payout's status and date.
Manage your payouts
- Click Your payout account on the Earnings page to open your Stripe Connect dashboard — bank details, tax forms, and payout history live there.
- Update your bank account or tax info any time in Stripe — changes apply to future payouts.
If your Stripe setup is incomplete, payouts are held — and you can't approve booking requests at all: the approve button is replaced by Connect payouts to approve. Finish setup from the Connect payouts item on your Today page checklist or the Add a payout method prompt on Earnings.
